The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) has requested Ontario universities to make available, to students, data regarding graduation rates, employment rates, and OSAP default rates.
Data are presented by Western's faculty/program and by MTCU program categories. The MTCU categories are quite broad but necessary to ensure comparability throughout the Ontario university system.
To maintain adequate confidentiality in light of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, information has not been shown in instances where the number of students is four or less.
Important Notes:
1. Graduation Rates (calculated by MTCU; undergraduate students only)
MTCU has calculated graduation rates using a single entering cohort of students and determining whether or not they graduated within 7 years. The
methodology involves the selection of all 2002-03 full-time, first-year, first-time undergraduate students in both direct-entry and second-entry programs.
The subset is then matched against the records for students who received a degree (in any program) from the same institution during the period 2003
to 2009. Graduation rates are generally understated since students who transfer to other universities are categorized as "not graduating".
2. Employment Rates (results of a survey conducted by the Ontario Universities Application Centre; undergraduate students only)
To determine employment rates of recent graduates, a survey of all 2008 graduates of undergraduate degree programs was conducted. Graduates were
asked questions regarding their employment situation 6 months and two years after graduation.
3. OSAP Default Rates (calculated by MTCU; undergraduate and graduate students)
The 2010 default rates reflect the repayment status of students (undergraduate and graduate) who were issued Ontario Student Loans (OSL) in the 2007-08 academic year and completed or exited their studies in 2008-09.
